The 2025 Kalispel Championships returned to Kalispel Golf and Country Club this spring, bringing together more than 150 of the Inland Northwest’s top high school golfers for a premier competitive showcase in Spokane. The event was proudly promoted by and benefited The Sunshine Club, continuing its mission of supporting youth athletics across the region.
Set against one of Spokane’s most scenic and challenging courses, the Kalispel Championships once again delivered a high-level tournament experience that mirrored the feel of a professional event, from course setup to overall hospitality.
A Championship-Level Experience
Golfers were treated to a first-class tournament environment, complete with premium course conditions, player gifts, catered meals, and a well-run schedule that elevated the event beyond a typical high school meet. The Kalispel Championships has quickly become a must-play tournament on the spring calendar, attracting top talent from multiple classifications and schools throughout Eastern Washington and North Idaho.
The combination of strong competition and a professional atmosphere gave players a valuable opportunity to test their skills under pressure while enjoying the camaraderie that defines high school golf.


Individual Champions Shine
Girls Individual Champion – Melia Cerenzia (West Valley)
West Valley’s Melia Cerenzia earned the girls individual title after a tightly contested round. Cerenzia showed resilience throughout the day, navigating a challenging stretch of holes before finishing strong to secure the championship with a one-stroke victory. Her steady play and composure under pressure highlighted her growth as a competitor.
Boys Individual Champion – Ben Barrett (Mead)
On the boys side, Ben Barrett successfully defended his Kalispel Championships title. The Mead junior posted a three-under-par 69, highlighted by multiple birdies on the back nine and a confident finish on the closing hole. Barrett’s repeat performance reinforced his position as one of the region’s elite high school golfers.


Team Results Highlight Depth Across Programs
The team competitions showcased the depth of golf talent across local schools.
On the girls side, Gonzaga Preparatory School captured the team championship, with strong performances throughout the lineup. Ridgeline and Freeman followed closely behind in the standings.
In the boys team competition, Cheney High School earned the team title, edging out Lewis and Clark and Ridgeline in a competitive field that featured several closely matched programs.
Supporting the Game of Golf Through The Sunshine Club
Beyond the leaderboard, the Kalispel Championships plays an important role in supporting the game of golf in the region. Proceeds from the tournament benefit The Sunshine Club, a nonprofit organization dedicated to growing the game of golf for young athletes throughout the Inland Northwest.
Through events like the Kalispel Championships, The Sunshine Club continues to invest in access, development, and memorable experiences for student-athletes both on and off the course.
