SPOKANE, Wash. — Boise State put together the low round of the tournament to seize control of the Kalispel Invitational, carrying a commanding 12-stroke team lead into Tuesday’s final round at Kalispel Golf and Country Club.
The Broncos opened with a 4-over round before catching fire in Round 2, firing a 5-under 283 — the best round posted by any team through two days — to vault to 1-under overall. Fresno State sits a distant second at 11-over, with Grand Canyon (14-over), Murray State (16-over), Sacramento State (18-over) and Gonzaga (19-over) rounding out the top six.
While the team race has opened up, the individual leaderboard remains a dogfight. Sacramento State’s Emilia Schneider and Fresno State’s Ariya Soldwisch share medalist honors at 2-under through 36 holes, with just a stroke separating them from a pair chasing right behind.
Schneider set the pace early, opening with a 3-under round before playing to 1-over in Round 2 to hold her spot at the top. Soldwisch took the opposite path, climbing into a share of the lead with a 3-under second round — matching the low individual score of the day.
One shot back, CSU Bakersfield’s Sahya Kitabatake and Boise State’s Leia Chung are tied for third at 1-under. Chung’s 2-under Round 2 was a key piece of the Broncos’ team-record-setting day, pairing with her teammates to help build the 12-stroke cushion Boise State now carries into the final 18.
With a 12-stroke cushion, Boise State will look to close things out Tuesday, while the individual title remains very much up for grabs among four golfers separated by a single shot.
