The Spokane80 celebration and Gonzaga Women Lead are proud to announce that Becky Calder, the first female pilot to graduate from the U.S. Navy’s elite TOPGUN program, will be the featured speaker at the Women Lead/Spokane80 Summer Luncheon on Friday, August 7, 2026. The event will take place at Gonzaga University’s Hemmingson Center as part of the Spokane80 weekend celebration.
A groundbreaking leader in aviation, Calder shattered barriers throughout her career and became a trailblazer for women pursuing leadership roles in traditionally male-dominated fields. Her inspiring story of resilience, courage, and determination has made her a sought-after speaker for organizations across the country.
The Women Lead/Spokane80 Summer Luncheon will bring together business leaders, community members, students, and aspiring professionals for an engaging conversation centered on leadership, overcoming obstacles, and creating opportunities for future generations.
The luncheon is one of the signature events of Spokane80, a community-wide celebration commemorating the 80th anniversary of the first U.S. Women’s Open Championship, held in Spokane in 1946. The weekend will honor the pioneers who helped shape women’s golf while inspiring the next generation of leaders both on and off the course.
Whether you’re a longtime Women Lead supporter, a golf enthusiast, or simply looking to be inspired by one of the nation’s most accomplished pioneers, this is an event you won’t want to miss.
